Tennis Teams Serve Up Successful Season

Despite losing many of its top team members, this yearUs tennis team has
finished strong. RIUm happy that this young team has really come along,S
said Mrs. Keri Betts. Because of rain-outs, the Varsity team will have to
compete in three matches right before Metros. They will be held at Dewey
Park at 4 pm on May 8, 11, and 12. As of May 8, their record was 4-4.
The tennis team will compete in Metros and State with a home field
advantage, since both are held at Dewey Park, where Marian plays all of
its home games. Metros are held beginning at 8 am. on Wed. May 13. State
also begins at 8 am, on Thurs., May 21.
Marian will send the #1 singles player, freshman Katie Anderson, the #2
singles player, junior Katie Burns, the #1 doubles team of seniors Jackie
Kizer and Meghann Longo, and the #2 doubles team of juniors Kate Kelly and
Kathy Lang. The alternate is junior Brigid Dolan.
RIUm glad that my doubles team is finally starting to click right before
Metros and State. I feel like the timing is right,S said Lang.
The J.V. team has also had a successful season. The team finished with a
record of 7-1-1. . This season was a team effort, and everyone
contributed to the wins,S said Mrs. Carol Gosney.
