After much hard work and dedication, the 1997 volleyball season comes to a close. The Freshman A team finished its season Oct. 27 with a 12-6 record while the Freshman B team ended their season Oct. 27 with a 5-4 record. Both teams were coached by Ms. Amy Armbruster.

The Junior Varsity team finished Oct. 21 with a 15-9 record. ÒOur team improved each day, but we always wait for the last half of the season to really notice it,Ó said Coach Ronda Motykowski.
Going into the State tournament today and tomorrow in Lincoln, the Varsity team is ranked fifth in Class A and sixth overall. The first match is at 11 a.m. today.
Their first place finish at Districts on Nov. 6 has seated them very well in state. ÒI feel that our chances in State this year are very good. We can win it. There is no difference between the top five teams. It is all a matter of seating and our performance,Ó said Coach Moty-kowski, who assists head coach Ms. Rochelle Rohlfs.
The Varsity team usually doesnÕt increase their amount of practice for Districts and State, but they try to throw in something new and different from what theyÕve been doing.
Lindsay Kelly, a sophomore Varsity player, returned for practice on Oct. 14. She had been doing physical therapy for a stress fracture in her back. She feels that she is working harder than before because not playing for five weeks has made her reali ze how much she wants to play.
Both Kelly and Kylie Lebeda, another sophomore Varsity player, feel that they have a very good chance in the state tournament this year.
ÒRight now, weÕre doing great, but we hope to reach the peak of our season at State. We have a winning passion which we hope will help us keep improving until we meet our goal in the state tournament,Ó said Lebeda.
