Reading increases comprehension, spelling, grammar,
vocabulary,
writing
style and general knowledge about the world.
According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress,
students
who read the most (11 or more pages daily) have the highest average test
scores.
Generally, the more that students read for fun on their own time,
the
higher their reading scores.
28 percent of 12th graders never read on their own for fun.
5000 words make up 90 percent of the words we read.
Only 6 percent of all words appear 10 times or more per million words.
