Dear Editor: Letter to the Editor
by Sarah Wakin
We are seniors. We have put in our dues. I was shocked when I found out that the senior lounge, that some fellow classmates took the initiative to put together, was shut down.
As seniors, teachers expect us to do more. The administration demands that we be models for the rest of the school, which we are proudly doing, but they do not want to give us any outstanding priviledges. We gave up the top of the lot last year. There was a senior lounge in the past years, but when the renovations were made, someone thought it was not necessary to have. Often times, students get yelled at if they sit in the hall and converse. The Quad is so loud, and the library... shhhhhhh!
CONCLUSION: There is a little nook on the first floor that no one is ever around.
RESULT: Senior Lounge.
In reality it is not a senior lounge, but a place that we can call our own. It would be nice if we could hang out; to study, to chat, to sleep, and to do anything. There are other spaces available in the school if it is a hazard having us down there. Condensing was done when we renovated, it could be done now. We are asked to be examples and to act the way everyone knows we can. I think I can speak for my class when I say, we just wish we were given some real senior privledges that compliment all of our responsibilities.
