We've got spirit, yeah yeah, weUve got spirit, yeah yeah, We got what What WHAT? Hold up. For those of you who did not know, State basketball was not just on Thursday, March 2. We were kindly granted a half day, Friday, March 3, thanks to our hardworking and determined b-ball team. Yes, that leaves you with a choice- to sit in Prep's parking lot anticipating their dismissal or be true to the blue (Marian Blue that is!), and take a quick road trip to the state capital to cheer on the Crusaders in their pursuit of gold. Stay True to the Blue
On Friday with the expectancy of around 705 girls, we were disappointed in the turnout. We applaud those of you who proudly attended and we understand some stipulations of not being the great age of 16 or not getting off work. But was there an honest effort made to support the team?
According to Mrs. Gosney, on Thursday approximately 195 underclassmen filled five buses. There were three additional buses headed to Lincoln carrying the band, the cheerleaders and dance team, and of course, the team. In addition to the buses, carloads of students surely jamming out to various teeny-bopper tunes were passing them on the highway. Sadly enough, the number of students in the stands did not continue throughout the tournament, therefore, neither did the fun road trips for many. RFansS are 100% percent behind the players and their championship trophy, but where are the fans during the crucial parts of these state games. True blue is simply the title given to loyal supporters- not fair weather fans.
The pride of the four state championships thus far and more to come (knock on wood) takes more effort and lasts longer than a 15 minute pep rally. Though you may not be a proud member of the orange Wheaties championship box club, your support is always needed and greatly appreciated. So go out and be part of the crowd and you may even get to show your face on TV. Let's backup these championships and continue to defend our titles.
Welcome to Marian. We are blue.
We are rowdy.
We are #1.
So take a step into Crusader territory.
